Lore & Setting

Year 2099 β€” the rise of the Super AGI and the discovery of the JOC Crystal changed everything.

In the year 2099, Earth faced unprecedented challenges after the discovery of JOC Crystal (Jewel of Creation), a resource that revolutionized human technology. This crystal, extracted from beneath the Earth's surface with the help of Super AGI, became the catalyst for an era of rapid technological growth and energy production. JOC Crystal was initially seen as a miracle, enhancing everything from quantum computing and nano-engineering to synthetic biology and energy generation.

However, as humanity harnessed the power of JOC, they were unable to mitigate the harmful environmental effects caused by its refinement. The vast quantities of toxic waste produced in the extraction process began to deteriorate the planet's ecosystem. Oceans acidified, skies darkened, and the natural environment crumbled.

Despite the ecological collapse, JOC itself became the foundation for new technologies, but at a great cost. Three massive, powerful corporations emerged from the ashes of this devastation, each claiming dominion over JOC's extraction and distribution. These mega-corporations not only controlled the energy resource but also began to dominate the political and military spheres.

To maintain control over the wealthy elite, the corporations constructed "Arcologies"β€”enormous, self-sustaining domed cities designed to house the privileged few. Inside these Arcologies, life flourished in pristine conditions, with advanced technologies keeping the environment in balance. However, outside the Arcologies, the rest of the world descended into chaos. The poor and disenfranchised were left to live in toxic, decaying cities or work as expendable labor for the corporations, perpetuating a deep divide between the rich and the destitute.

Amidst this social unrest, players take on the role of a mercenary working for one of the mega-corporations, tasked with exploring and extracting JOC from the ruins of ancient cities. These cities are rife with danger, populated by mutated creatures, rogue machines, and other mercenaries. In this fractured world, survival and power are often tied to control over JOC, and the battle for this valuable resource is a constant struggle.

This is the world of 2Worlds, where hope, if it exists, is commodified and controlled by the few who hold the keys to JOC.
